I don’t know if you’ve heard the news, but we’re getting a Practical Magic 2!

Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are coming back September 2026 to give us another installment of the witchy classic that had us all wanting to have midnight margaritas. If you haven’t seen it, Practical Magic is about a pair of sisters who just so happen to come from a generation of witches. These sisters, however, try to avoid using magic to the best of their abilities as it tends to affect their love lives in a negative way. Of course, the sisters can’t entirely avoid magic as they need to use it to revive a dead boyfriend.

Practical Magic was such a staple of early girlhood for me, and the whole movie feels whimsical and makes you want to hug the women in your family, or your coven, tight. September 2026 feels like a long ways away, but you can fill your time with other witchy movies until then. Here are 5 movies to watch to fill your margarita cup until Practical Magic 2 releases.

Death Becomes Her (1992)

Meryl Streep 'Death Becomes Her' | Fear: The Home of Horror

Universal Pictures

Death Becomes Her is not about witches per se, but it is about a magical potion with some really questionable side effects. The movie stars Goldie Hawn as Helen and Meryl Streep as Madeline, two friends who grow apart due to their jealousy and desire for attention. Helen’s husband leaves her for Madeline and sends her straight to a psychiatric institute. When Helen gets out, she is radiant and looks more youthful than ever before. Madeline, an actress, is obsessed with her looks and becomes desperate for Helen’s secret. She learns that Helen has been drinking an immortality potion, and without a second thought, decides she needs it too. Immortality has a price however. Death Becomes Her is a hilarious ride from start to finish and really does expose the nastiness that is a beauty standard.

The Witches of Eastwick (1987)

Warner Bros.

The Witches of Eastwick stars Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfieffer, Susan Sarandon, and Cher, such an all star cast for an amazing film. Three small-town friends, played by Pfieffer, Sarandon, and Cher, are unfulfilled in their love lives as each of them have lost a romantic interest. When a stranger comes to town, played by Nicholson, the three friends realize that they are witches and begin being courted by and living with this stranger to uncover their powers. Unfortunately for them, this enigmatic stranger has some impure intentions and they must try to take their power back from him.

Teen Witch (1989)

Trans World Entertainment

Teen Witch is so good and so underrated. Robyn Lively stars as Louise Miller, a high school nerd who desperately wants to be popular. Louise visits a psychic who tells her that on her 16th birthday, she will receive magical powers. This prophecy turns out to be true, and she uses her newfound powers to get the popularity she’s always wanted. As with all teen movies, popularity isn’t what it’s cracked up to be and Louise quickly learns that being well-liked doesn’t solve all your problems. Zelda Rubinstein steals the show as the psychic that Louise visits and I can never forget the dance scene. So, top that!

The Craft (1996)

Columbia Pictures

The Craft is an obvious choice, but for good reason. If you grew up in the 90s and were slightly alternative, The Craft was your holy grail of fashion, attitude, and the blueprint for your personality. The Craft is about Sarah (Robin Tunney), a girl who just moved to LA and trying to find her way in a new high school. She meets Nancy (Fairuza Balk), Bonnie (Neve Campbell), and Rochelle (Rachel True), and becomes fast friends with them when they realize that Sarah has telekinetic powers and they all desire to be witches. After the four join forces, they all start getting what they want out of life, such as beautiful skin, money, to get back at bullies, and true love. After their powers grow stronger, the girls grow out of control and begin to turn on each other.

Eve’s Bayou (1997)

Eves-Bayou.jpg

Trimark Pictures

Eve’s Bayou takes the New England witchy vibes from Practical Magic and gives them a Southern Gothic voodoo vibe. Eve’s Bayou is about a Louisiana family, specifically two sisters Eve (Jurnee Smollett) and Cisley (Meagan Good). Eve has the gift of sight, which can be empowering and scary for her navigating that plus being on the verge of becoming a woman. As she’s figuring out how to deal with her gifts, she’s also having to deal with family trauma and how lies have transformed their lives in many different ways. Eve’s aunt, Mozelle, is a psychic who provides her with help for reconciling those lies.
