3. Dead To Me

Netflix

Dead To Me is an original Netflix series starring Christina Applegate as Jen Harding, a realtor whose husband Ted was recently killed by a hit-and-run driver. In a grief support group, Jen meets and befriends Judy Hale (Linda Cardellini), who is grieving the “death” of her fiancé, who Judy claims passed from a heart attack. (As it turns out, Judy is actually the hit-and-run driver who killed Jen’s husband and Judy’s fiancé did not die; he left her.)

Both women handle their circumstances in very differently, with Jen struggling deeply while Judy is able to remain optimistic. However, it is this juxtaposition in their attitudes that ultimately leads the women to become extremely close. Over time, Jen becomes more unwell as she begins to put the pieces of her husband’s death together (and Judy’s secrets). Dead To Me is a black comedy well worth the watch.

4. The Bold Type

At Scarlet (based on Cosmopolitan) the trio grow up and grow closer together as they make their way through life as young professionals and women in the big city.

5. Sex and the City
