There’s a reason Max has become one of the most popular streaming services in the modern market today.

Offering an impressive array of first-rate shows, anime series, and world-renowned films, there’s simply no end to the number of worthwhile titles lining Max’s library. As though we needed further proof of this fact, just look at the numerous comedies, horror films, and thrillers that have recently arrived to Max’s catalog, many of which are sure to provide audiences with a ceaselessly entertaining viewing experience.

Companion (2025)

Warner Bros.

Quite possibly the most underrated film of the year yet, Companion also might very well be the greatest 2025 release most people have never heard of. An astounding exploration of A.I. and synthetic personalities in the modern age, it’s a ready illustration of Sophie Thatcher’s unlimited potential as a leading lady, as evidenced by her recent appearances in Heretic, Yellowjackets, and MaXXXine, among other projects.

Fight Club (1999)

Certain films have long since ascended above mere cult status, garnering a lasting place in contemporary mass culture in a way few movies can. Such is certainly the case for 1999’s satirical comedic thriller, Fight Club. Led by a brilliant Edward Norton and a scene-stealing Brad Pitt, Fight Club is an effective portrayal of consumerism, commercialism, materialism, and the limits of nihilism – one that’s sure to leave you smiling, laughing, and looking away in disgust throughout.

Inception (2010)

Warner Bros.

Leave it to Christopher Nolan to think of a movie as wholly inventive as Inception. An imaginative take on the traditional heist film, Inception transports viewers to the furthest reaches of our imagination, following a group of inventive thieves infiltrating their targets’ dreams. Bolstered by a massive ensemble cast that includes the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, and Elliot Page, it’s among Nolan’s strongest efforts to date, even when compared to his past work on The Dark Knight, Dunkirk, or Oppenheimer.

Mickey 17 (2025)

Warner Bros.

Six years after his Oscar-winning dark comedy Parasite, director Bong Joon-ho returns with his similarly thrilling venture, Mickey 17. As with most of Bong’s previous movies, Mickey 17 relies on a clever utilization of science fiction motifs to discuss plenty of relatable topics in the course of its two-hour runtime, including the dangers of authoritarianism and a profit-obsessed capitalist culture. Smart, funny, and dark in all the right places, it’s one of the best releases of 2025 yet, as well as a film guaranteed to earn further attention at the next Golden Globes and Academy Awards celebrations.
