Thursdays are the most underappreciated day of the week. They never get the hype of a Friday payday, but Thursdays bridge the wide gap from Hump Day until the unofficial start of the weekend.

Even though the promotional poster for this series touts Kevin Williamson’s credits as “the creator of Dawson’s Creek and Scream“, the trailer is giving a hardcore Yellowstone meets Outer Banks vibe. With Mindhunter‘s Holt McCallany in the role of family patriarch, and recurring appearances from Topher Grace, it’s possible we’ll get some hard-hitting drama with our side of soap-opera, where Williamson’s track record with The Vampire Diaries should come in handy. Only time will tell if the Buckley family of North Carolina becomes a household name or slips into the oblivion of the streaming library, but today’s debut is the first step towards finding out.

When I was growing up no one promoted a TV line-up like ABC, and my family lived for TGIF every Friday. Peacock has the ultimate opportunity to cross-promote these two titles and package them as a the perfect back-to-back viewing experience for Thursday nights. Get Natasha Lyonne in character as Charlie Cale at the Love Island villa sniffing out which contestants are lying to their partner or the other Islanders, and I promise you, that clip will go viral on TikTok. If Peacock doesn’t want my free marketing advice, you can at least enjoy my stellar TV recommendations to combine reality hijinks with scripted comedy-drama like it’s the new Oreos with peanut butter.

When it premiered a decade ago, Inside Out emotionally destroyed the slew of adults who unwittingly entered theaters believing they’d purchased tickets to a children’s movie, and oh, they couldn’t have been more wrong. With it’s own sequel, and spiritual successors like Coco and Soul, Pixar proved they could deliver hard-hitting entertainment to entirely different demographics simultaneously. With amazing voice acting from beloved stars like Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, and Mindy Kaling, this film is sure to remain a classic for years to come.
